Tips for an accurate BPM

Tap on the main beat: usually the kick drum or the steady pulse you would clap to. The counter averages the time between your recent taps, so a few slightly late taps barely change the result.

If the number looks twice or half what you expected, you may be tapping every half-beat or every other beat. Both are valid ways to count the same song.

Typical tempos: ballads 60–80 BPM, hip-hop 80–100, pop 100–130, house 120–128, drum and bass 160–180. Need the key too? Use the key finder.
